The Israeli – Palestinian Conflict
starring Sacha Baron Cohen
Mrs. Maisel is a "role model" of our time - Gal Gadot, for example, has only just proven it in "Super Woman": Strong, diverse female roles promise success and attract the masses.
But our Mrs. Maisel can do even more - humorous, versatile and full of energy, she authentically plays a woman of the 50s who draws us into her world and takes us with her.
Definitely a risk of addiction here!
Director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall) takes us to Holland in 1945. The Germans are already in the process of loosing, but this does not prevent the SS from pursuing their program of persecuting and executing the Jews. In the midst of this scene we meet the singer Rachel Stein alias Ellen de Vries (Carice van Houten), a young Jew and, disoriented by her humour and her lightness, we getting sucked into her atrocities filled world.
Be warned. That is and remains one of the saddest and cruelest films about recent German history. The suffering of horror and the death of innumerable people translated into disturbing images that you will never forget.
The pianist is a true story. That makes it particularly difficult to watch the Germans exterminating us Jews without the questions about the why ever been raised never mind answered.
In this alternate history Film. A group of mercenaries marks Nazis by carving a swastika onto their foreahad to keep them from taking off their uniforms and go unrecognized after the war. It is altered history as this is exactly what most Germans have done.
Light entertainment, but definitely no waste of time.
